Our street party pages have information about liaising with the police, road closures and emergency planning.
Whether the idea to hold a street party is from an individual or a group, it is recommended that as many people as possible are involved at an early a stage. This can be achieved in a number of ways:
- Public meeting
- Attendance at local resident meetings
- Direct contact with residents
- Poster advertising
- Press advertising
- Contact local schools
The first step should be to set up an event committee and allocate tasks to individuals. Do not underestimate the work involved and allow adequate time for planning and compliance with any statutory procedures.
Once the site of the event is determined, whether a road or adjacent amenity grass area, determine the land-owner and obtain any necessary permission in writing.
An outdoor public entertainment licence (required for musical concert events) is NOT necessary for street parties if musical entertainment is an incidental part of a fete or similar style event.
