On-street pay parking scheme
East Sussex County Council, the Highway Authority, introduced an on-street pay parking scheme within the controlled parking zone covering the town centre area on 20 October 2008, which will be linked with Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) across the entire borough.

Area of coverage and sub-zones
Map 1 shows the extent of the area that will be covered by the new controls and the pay and display area on the seafront. The area will be divided into sub-zones for the purposes of issuing both resident and business permits.
Map 2 shows the area covered by each of the sub-zones. Resident permit holders will be issued with a permit for the sub-zone in which they live. This will be indicated by a letter on their permit (either (A, G, S or N) and on the signs next to the parking bays. Residents will only be able to use their permit in the sub-zone in which they live. Businesses will have the option of either purchasing an all zone permit or a single sub-zone permit.
