On-street Pay Parking Scheme

East Sussex County Council, the Highway Authority, proposed to introduce an on-street pay parking scheme within a controlled parking zone covering the town centre area on the 8 October 2007, which would be linked with Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) across the entire borough.

Eastbourne Borough Council is totally opposed to any development of the existing on-street pay parking scheme and has challenged the County Council's authority to introduce further areas of pay parking. 

Both Councils also await the decision of the Secretary of State as to whether or not a DPE scheme will be approved.
