The Cleansing group is working with a new partner to help with repairs and maintenance of the council’s public conveniences.
Our new partnership is with the Training Assessment Progression (TAP).
They are a charitable organisation giving people who are disengaged or excluded from mainstream local community, due to some form of impairment, activities to participate in.
TAP aims to give vocational training while carrying out tasks and work that benefits the community.
TAP will be carrying out repair works at the public toilets in Gildredge Park. The cost to repair these facilities was very expensive and would have taken a large proportion of the public convenience repair and maintenance budget.
The council provides the materials to carry out the work. If we are satisfied with the standard of work by TAP a donation is given to the group to assist with their running costs.
TAP are currently working on the Gildredge Park Café conveniences. They will be decorating the interior and exterior so the toilets can be operational whilst refurbishment works are carried out at the main toilet block.
TAP instructor overseeing work
Work to the main toilet block in the centre of the park includes renewing ceiling joists, plastering the ceiling, general redecoration including retiling as required and updating the cisterns and plumbing.
All works are being overseen and checked by qualified instructors.
The Cleansing Group is pleased at the prospect of working with TAP and providing the opportunity to give those working on the project a good grounding in a number of trades.
