Street and House Naming and Numbering

House and Flat Numbers

If you are building a new house, or converting an existing property to flats, the council will need to assign a house number to it (and flat numbers where appropriate).  Please send your request in writing to us and enclose any relevant site plans for the development. Send to:

Street Naming and Numbering
Eastbourne Borough Council
1 Grove Road, Eastbourne
BN21 4TW

A single new property or small development is normally numbered within existing streets.

Street Names

A brand new street name may be required for larger property developments. We will ask you for suggestions if a new street name is required for your site.

For very large estates we may ask you to propose a theme for your street names. Examples of estates with themed street names in Eastbourne include the Painters Estate, the Birds Estate and Sovereign Harbour.

We will consider proposed street names and check them against existing street names in the area.

When this is complete your new street name(s) and postal number details will be sent to Royal Mail who will allocate the postcode.  You will receive written confirmation of the correct postal address(es) for your site.
