Community Grants

Every year the council awards grants to voluntary and community organisations for services and activities which benefit Eastbourne and its residents. This is a two stage process. We invite organisations to submit an initial Expression of Interest form (available below). We then invite those organisations which meet our eligibility criteria and priorities to submit a Detailed Application.

We are now inviting organisations who meet our eligibility criteria and are seeking for funding which addresses one of our priorities to apply for a Small Grant for 2017 to 2018. If you wish to apply, please download a copy of our Community and Housing Grants Policy, Expression of Interest form and guidance below.

We are holding a launch meeting at the Town Hall, Grove Road Eastbourne at 10.30am on Wednesday 3rd August for anyone interested in applying.

The priorities for 2017/18 are:

  • projects designed to promote inclusion and the needs of those communities and groups protected under current Equality legislation
  • projects which provide mental health services with a particular focus on young people

  • projects to reduce social isolation in vulnerable people

  • Community Buildings – one off small grants to help voluntary organisations increase the involvement of local residents as volunteers to help run their buildings and/ or new activities within those buildings; or to develop business plans to put them on a more sustainable financial footing.

Relevant Strategies

Pride of Place - In East Sussex, the six local authorities and six Local Strategic Partnerships have worked together to produce Pride of Place- the sustainable community strategy for East Sussex. It sets out a long term vision for improving people’s quality of life and the main things we must do to achieve that vision.

Help and Support

3VA, the organisation which supports voluntary and community groups in this area, offers advice on all sources of funding and help applying for grants.

East Sussex County Council also offers advice and help with funding applications and publishes a monthly bulletin with up to date information on sources of funding.
