Ivor Novello Lunch

Big Band leader PAUL DAVIS and West End actress and singer JACQUIE TOYE will present the Life, World & Music of Ivor Novello at two lunches on Tuesday 8th May (ladies only) and Wednesday 9th May (open to everyone). Come and hear the story of one of the biggest stars of the early twentieth century. Ivor had enormous success at a young age when his song 'Keep The Home Fires Burning' became one of the most popular of the first world war; he became Britain's biggest silent film stars and matinee idol, before conquering the West End with very successful plays and later huge musicals such as 'Glamorous Night', 'The Dancing Years', King's Rhapsody' and 'Perchance To Dream'. As a composer, his songs are still loved sixty years after his death, including 'We'll Gather Lilacs', 'Rose of England' and 'Love Is My Reason'.
A delicious afternoon of pure theatrical nostalgia.
