Hospital Social Club won yet another season at Hampden Park Sports Centre and after adding the Winter League title to their list on honours they have won all four Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter leagues, the first team to do so for several years since the great First Call side of the 90s.
What made this season even sweeter for the champs was it was their first time winning the league at Hampden Park Sports Centre while going the whole season unbeaten and after 18 games without defeat at the end of the Autumn League it takes them up to 40 league games without a loss.
The last team to win the league and to beat Hospital, Gurr Ceramic Tiling kept up with Hospital right up until the final couple of weeks where they lost the crunch match to their rivals by a single goal and then faded.
Coastal Repointing had a great run at the end of the season and probably would have finished in second if they hadn’t forfeited two matches in week two and been deducted two points for failing to field a side.
Fellas Barbers were the team to watch, they netted an astonishing 71 and conceded 71 and were always entertaining finishing in the top six.
Mark Potter’s Foreign Legion done well to make the league cup in their first season after looking like they were going to get the wooden spoon, they put together a good run of games in the last few weeks to make it into the top eight.
The League Cup saw a tough half of the draw with Foreign Legion having to beat Gurr Tiling and then the winner of Hospital or Coastal if they were to make the final. Hospital made it through to their third consecutive final and beat Kewell & The Gang 2-0 to put the icing on the cake for their double winning season.
Yet again Ricki Prodger won the golden boot and with his goals in the league cup included he hit over 40 goals in 25 games. His team-mate Richard Piper was awarded the player of the season award after consistently performing well for the champs while playing at the back, covering for the his injured brother Chris Piper where he formed a solid defensive partnership with Sam Connor that conceded the least goals in the league, he also scored 15 goals to help his side win the league.
