League Cup top 5
The finale found action from start to finish with a slightly exhausted Langney Legends after all 5 fielded all four games without substitution battled as much as they could to prevent the dominant Fellas Barbers but at credit to Barbers proved too strong no matter the opponents as moments before the first half found an absolute cracker from Barbers top scorer Paul Diamond smashing home on the turn of play from distance for 1-0.
The game ran away from Legends with Dan Slesser on the end of another goal but the game turned when Ryan Manners once again scored and well deserved as he really upped his performance level for the cup.
At this point 3-0 up Barbers started to enjoy them selves with good skill and striking then found the goal of the evening with Mark Haydock juggling the ball and a swift turn to strike the ball home put them in the light end of the tunnel to victory.
Lastly, not to forget the player-contender of the season Lee Prodger who tucked in a brace after bursts of pace found him 1-on-1 with good finishes.
The game ended 6-0 well deserved overall and Fellas Barbers crowned champions of the league cup summer 2011!
Bottom 5 Plate Cup
It kicked off with Valina Boyz and Braveheartz looking to grab the all important Cup silverware both working hard but found a dramatic twist from the group stage encounter this time Valina Boyz with the advantage as Steve Walker steered them 2-0 up.
A shocked Braveheartz normally fold under such pressure and early dominance but heads held high still believed in a comeback.
The pressure mounted more and more on Valina as shots hit on goal found it tricky to get out of the Heartz second half pressure and found the breakthrough from Martin Sharp with a powerful strike before the team came back to a 2-2 score line with Matt Ornsby’s precise finish.
Who grabbed the late winner? As seconds counted thinner and thinner both teams going for the win without the need of extra time but couldn’t have been anyone else but Captain Martin Sharp smashing low and underneath the diving James Waite sending Heartz to delight and victory for 3-2
