Langney Are Legends! Spring Plate Cup 2011
In an epic battle of the bottom 6 teams in this season’s spring Plate cup found some great results.
Bravehearts who finished 9th in the spring league found their feet in the tournament as they pulled out some great football and really gave the crowd something to cheer about.
They managed to beat Angus FC 3-0 in their best performance of the evening in an action packed one sided game as Matt Ornsby smashed in a brace.
The captain Martin Sharp also showed how scoring was done with a goal to add. Heartz showed much resilience in their matches that saw them beat CSKA Sussex 1-0 and N B F 3-0 in which ‘goalkeeper of the evening’ Sam Ring kept clean sheets throughout the group phase games.
Langney Legends proved to be a dominant force in their cup campaign with a worthy 3-1 win over ABCDE FC as Joel Coombes, Dave Snasnal and Olly Mayhew providing the blows.
Legends also beat CSKA Sussex 7-1 in the biggest defeat of the evening with Joel Coombes the player of the tournament scored a hat-trick here. Legends also beat N B F 2-0 as well as two draws with Braveheartz and Angus FC got them through to the final showdown.

A fantastic match between the tournaments best performers began in a nail biting fashion as both teams looking to craft their chance on goal carefully found a stale mate for much of the game as the two were solid defensively but chances missed really gave the crowd something to wait for, however after the final whistle came 3 minutes extra time.
Heartz looked the more tired after this point however their brilliant clean sheet and goal scoring performance proved they had the opportunity to win it. Legends pressed Heartz more in extra time and created more of the chances which finally led to Heartz conceding with a Paul Fever wonder strike from distance, a worthy goal to win a final to add.
With only a glimmer of hope remained for Heartz another goal followed with Legends which found Heartz dropping their heads as the final whistle blew a final finish of 3-1 saw Langney Legends reign supreme and awarded the spring Plate Cup 2011.
