Autumn League 2008

Hampden Park 5-a-Side Football logo

Hospital Social Club go down as arguably the greatest Indoor 5-a-side team in Eastbourne after a dominating year at Hampden Park Sports Centre including winning three consecutive titles, the Summer Challenge Cup and a charity tournament in December.

The champions only dropped five points and lost one match to rivals Gurr Ceramic Tiling earlier on in the season.

Gurr Tiling being the last team to win the league other than Hospital started the season well but a disastrous week saw Hospital come back from behind to beat them 2-1 and then a unexpected 4-2 defeat to MDJ Demons put a huge dent in their title hopes.

Coastal Repointing finished the season on a high, after being deducted points for failing to field a team in week two they hit form and strung several victories together to finish runners-up before beating Hospital in the league cup final 4-1.

When it comes to scoring goals Ricki Prodger seems untouchable after winning his third top goal scorer award in consecutive seasons when he finished the season with 31 goals, six ahead of Ian Pelling of Kewell & The Gang.

The Player of the league award went to Dave Walters of Real Valina who had a great second half of the season to finish seventh, a good achievement for a team who finished bottom in the Spring League. Defender Dave scored some great long range goals and hit hat-tricks in consecutive weeks to help his side claim a league cup spot.
