Bank enhancement at Decoy Pond
Work continues well at the Decoy Pond, Hampden Park. The dry weather thoughout April has been a great advantage.
Some areas of the pond are being deepened and the silt is being reused in the bankside enhancement works. These areas will later be planted with suitable native plants to create new wildlife habitat.
Along the dam concrete foundations have been constructed for the new spillway.

New sandplay equipment installed at Hampden Park
New equipment has arrived at Hampden Park playground. This part of a programme of works to continue modernising Eastbourne's play areas.
For the first time in recent decades sandplay forms part of the exciting new equipment on offer. Children have been swarming over the equipment whilst taking advantage of the warm and dry April weather.
Other playgrounds to receive new investment include those at Archery and Roselands Recreation Grounds.
Barbecue equipment pilot scheme
With the ever increasing popularity of disposable barbeques in the UK the council have decided to install special equipment at Sevenoaks Road green space. The site has been chosen to run as a pilot scheme this summer.
The equipment consists of metal shelving and an attached fireproof bin all mounted on a concrete base. The top shelf is where visitors should place their disposable barbecues. Once your barbecue is finished the disposable tray, complete with hot coals, can be pushed sideways directly into the bin. Other rubbish should taken home or be placed in the normal litter bins provided.
Currently there is only one unit which is available on a first come first served basis. If the project is successful this year there may be the possibility of providing further units in the future.
Also at Sevenoaks Road site are a newly refurbished playground and wonderfull views across the marshes towards the Downs.
