Eastbourne in Bloom 2007

Allotment in mid season

In July judges in the local environmental and garden competition worked hard to visit just over 170 entries in the sixteenth consecutive Eastbourne in Bloom Competition.

Despite the unsettled weather green-fingered gardeners across the town pulled out all the stops to impress the judges across all the categories.  These included private front gardens, containers and baskets, communal gardens, places of worship and pubs and restaurants.  There was also a best kept allotment competition and categories for the hotels, guesthouses and others in the commercial sector.  A separate but associated competition is run on the Hydneye estate at Hampden Park.

The competition aims to create pride in the local environment and give recognition to many of those making a special effort to help make Eastbourne attractive to residents and visitors.  Gold award winners attend a special awards evening in September.

The organisation is run by volunteers and sponsored by Sita UK, ESK Plants, The Marine, Stone Cross Nursery, Groves Builders and Contractors, Milhams (Eastbourne), Langney Shopping Centre and Beckett Newspapers.
