Grass Cutting

Orchids in bloom at Willingdon Roundabout
The current grass cutting contract started on the 1st April 2005 and the successful tender was received from Milhams (Eastbourne) who have provided the service within Eastbourne for over 20 years.

The contract allows for twelve cuts each year between the months of April and October, the main growing season. The contract is a cut and let fly operation with the clippings left on the surface of the grassed areas.

Certain areas, such as Willingdon Roundabout, will continue to be managed sensitively to preserve and enhance the wildflower meadow, which contains orchids such as the Early Purple, Pyramidal, Common Spotted and Bee Orchid.
