Most often our curatorial team approach artists to exhibit at Towner, however we are interested to receive exhibition proposals from artists. As we receive high numbers of enquires from artists we are unable to meet requests from artists wishing to meet with our curatorial team or Director and therefore ask that all artists wishing to enquire about exhibiting at Towner submit a proposal for exhibition.
It is advisable to visit the gallery before submitting your proposal and consider the size and nature of the temporary exhibitions gallery and how your work would fit within it.
The procedure for artists to submit proposals is detailed below:
Please supply:
- A proposal (no longer than 500 words) stating what you would like to exhibit and how you would use the exhibition space to show your work.
- Up to 8 digital images of the type of work you wish to exhibit or if submitting a DVD no more than 3 clips, each clip no longer than 10 minutes duration.
- A short CV (no more than 2 pages) and artistic statement (no longer than 500 words) giving the background and context of your work.
- Past exhibition catalogues/publications (only if relevant to the proposal).
- A stamped addressed envelope for any materials you wish to have returned.
