Why are we building a new Towner?

Eastbourne has been able to attract substantial amounts of Lottery Good Causes money from the Arts Council England (ACE) and Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

The South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) have recognised the importance of tourism and conferences in Eastbourne.

The effectiveness of cultural regeneration in tackling social exclusion by awarding Eastbourne Reborn Single Regeneration Budget funding.

The Towner Art Collection needed a new home.  The Collection's previous home was in the 18th century manor house in Eastbourne's Old Town which was inaccessible and unsuitable as an art gallery and museum. The Towner Art Collection's new home will have purpose built facilities including a cafe and gallery shop.
