Museums and Galleries

Eastbourne has an interesting variety of museums and galleries.  Some are owned by Eastbourne Borough Council, while others are privately owned. We are also building a new cultural centre that will be completed in late autumn 2008.

  • Towner Gallery - An exciting new project is underway in the development of a new cultural centre.  The building is due to be completed in late autumn 2008.  The original gallery was closed in 2005.

  • Towner Art Collection -  Eastbourne's major art collections are held by the council.  Until December 2005 these were exhibited at the old manor house in Gildredge Park.

  • Eastbourne Local History Museum - Eastbourne Borough Council is working closely with local groups and societies to preserve the local history collection.

  • Redoubt Military Museum - A restored Napoleonic fortress, the Redoubt Museum is home to the rich regimental collections of The Royal Sussex Regiment, the Queen’s Royal Irish Hussars as well as the collection of Sussex Combined Services.
