Housing Strategy and Development

New Homes

This page includes our current housing strategies and describes the work we are doing to develop new affordable housing in Eastbourne.

In 2008 we developed a new Housing Strategy. This is based on various surveys of housing needs in Eastbourne which can be downloaded from the Housing Needs page.

Eastbourne Borough Council has begun working on a new housing strategy. ‘At Home in Eastbourne’ will look at how the Council can help people find, keep and maintain a secure home.

It will help the Council and all those we work with make the most of the changes made in the way social housing is funded. How we can help people buy a home of their own will also be part of the housing strategy as well as working to prevent people from becoming homeless.

We will be out and about this spring exploring what needs to be done to improve the way people can be at home in Eastbourne. The new housing strategy will come into effect in April 2013.

Download Housing Strategy

The current Strategy covers a broad range of housing issues and plans. You can download this below, along with summary and an Update for 2010.

We also carried out a review of homelessness in Eastbourne and developed a strategy to tackle this. The review, strategy and latest update can be downloaded below.

We have also agreed

  • a strategy covering the housing and support needs of older people in the Eastbourne area with East Sussex County Council and other partners working with older people in the town

  • a County Youth Homelessness Strategy with East Sussex County Council and the other District and Borough Councils in East Sussex.

Both of these can be downloaded below.
