Private Housing Team

The council's Private Housing Team works to facilitate the provision of safe and healthy homes for all the residents of Eastbourne. 

We achieve this by:

• giving advice and providing information

• responding to complaints

• issuing licences for Houses in Multiple Occupation

• improving housing conditions

• enforcing the Housing Act 2004

About the Team

The team is part of the Environmental Health service and undertakes a number of duties prescribed by law.

We also administer a wide range of private housing assistance for people who are over 60 or disabled or families on means tested benefits with children under 16.

This includes Disabled Facilities Grants, delivering adaptations to the homes of disabled people to meet their needs and statutory entitlements.
