Eastbourne House Condition Survey 2007

Eastbourne House Condition Survey Report

Housing in general has risen up the agenda and now presents new challenges to councils.

The recent Eastbourne-wide private housing stock condition survey looks at the issues currently facing owners and private landlords.

It considers areas such as empty homes, shared accommodation, fuel poverty and the affordability of home maintenance.

New Legislation and Objectives

New legislation in the form of the Housing Act 2004 and new objectives, as outlined in the 2007 Comprehensive Spending Review, mean new challenges.

Knowledge has been gained into the condition of private housing in Eastbourne through the survey and the council has taken this into account in developing future policy for the people of Eastbourne. Examples of this are the Housing Strategy and Private Housing Renewal Policy.
