Stay Out of Hospital Assistance
Older peoples’ falls cost the National Health Service close to a billion pounds each year. A grab rail costs less than £100, but a hip operation costs around £10,000.
Therefore Stay out of Hospital Assistance will fund works to prevent admission or enable discharge from hospital.
This is available to enable the over 65s or disabled people on means tested benefit to be discharged from hospital as soon as feasibly possible or to stay in their own homes by making their home more suitable for their needs. The assistance is up to a maximum of £5,000.
