Most older people prefer to carry on living in their own home. The Wealden and Eastbourne Lifeline Scheme (WEL) provides alarms (usually on a pendant worn around the neck) for older people who may need help in an emergency. This might be if you fall and need help to get up.
If you would like to apply for an alarm contact Lifeline direct.
Some people choose to live in schemes specially designed for older people aged 60 or over. Some buy a flat in a private scheme, such as those built by McCarthy and Stone. Others prefer to rent.
You may be able to rent a flat at low cost from a Housing Association or Eastbourne Homes (who manage the Council's housing stock). To do this you need to join our HomeChoice scheme.
We have recently reviewed the support we offer to older people in our own housing. We now have support workers who can work with any of our older tenants who have a support need whether or not they live in one of our retirement courts.
If you are over the age of 60 and living in council housing in Eastbourne, then Eastbourne Homes' new service could help by providing the support you need to live independantly in your home. Use the link to Eastbourne Homes Floating Support for more details.
