Help for People Experiencing Domestic Violence

An open, cupped hand

Domestic violence can happen to anyone and it is never acceptable.

If you are experiencing domestic violence you can get help to make it stop.  Our information booklet gives lots of very useful information about how you can get help.

If you need to flee your home you can contact us at any time of the day or night. We will then make an appointment to talk about your housing needs. We may be able to help by finding you accommodation. If you prefer to stay in your own home you may be able to use our Sanctuary Scheme.

Sanctuary Scheme

This scheme helps people experiencing domestic violence to stay safe, secure and supported in their own homes. It is available to anyone living in Eastbourne who is at a risk of losing their home as a result of domestic violence.

We can make homes more safe by fitting security measures such as:

  • solid timber doors
  • deadlocks
  • anti-forcing bars
  • door viewers
  • speaker systems
  • window locks
  • fire extinguishers

We may be able to provide you with a Lifeline telephone which ensures that emergency help can be summoned quickly when necessary.

You may be able to receive support from the Refuge Outreach Support Service, which will ensure you have someone to talk to, together with practical advice and assistance when you need it.
