Housing Benefit is worked out based on the personal circumstances of a tenant and therefore may vary with each tenant.
In addition to their personal circumstances the rent they pay is considered by the Rent Service to decide whether the rent is appropriate.
The rent may include many things. Here is a list of some of things Housing Benefit does not cover:
- water charges
- heating costs
- hot water
- lighting
- meals
- cleaning / laundry
