The amount of information that can be given to a landlord about their tenant is limited by rules of confidentiality and the Data Protection Act.
If benefit is paid directly to a landlord he or she becomes a 'person affected' and can be told:
- the amount of Housing Benefit due and the date it is due from,
- the date entitlement to benefit ends, and
- when a tenant requests that payment is no longer made to the landlord.
