We aim to process your claim as quickly as possible, although the time taken depends on a number of things. For example, a delay in providing us with the information we need will delay your claim.
Once we have made a decision, your Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit will normally be awarded from the Monday after the date your application form was received. However:
if you are over 60 years old or
you are in-receipt of certain benefits and have applied within one calendar month of the award or
have asked for a Backdated Benefit Award
your claim may start from an earlier date.
