How we Pay Local Housing Allowance

Payment of your Local Housing Allowance (LHA) award will usually be made by BACS payments direct to your bank or building society current account.

If you currently receive Housing Benefit payments by cheque you will need to tell us the bank or building society account you want your LHA award to be paid into.

LHA Bacs Form

You will need to complete a LHA Bacs form to do this.  Please ensure that this form is signed and dated before you send this to us.  You can download the form from the bottom of this page.

I Haven't Got a Bank or Building Society Account

If you do not currently have a bank or building society account or have had difficulty in opening an account, please contact the Citizen's Advice Bureau (CAB).  Eastbourne CAB are working in partnership with Eastbourne Benefits Service and will offer you further help and support.  Please use our link to their local service web page.

How Will Payments Be Made?

Payments will be paid in the same way as Housing Benefit.  Payments will be made fortnightly in arrears.

How Do I Pay My Landlord?

You will need to make arrangements to pay your rent to your landlord or letting agency yourself.  Most people find that the best way to pay their landlord is to set up a Standing Order or Direct Debt to pay their landlord every four weeks.
