Local Housing Allowance (LHA) will replace Housing Benefit only for new private tenants in Eastbourne from 7 April 2008.
If you are currently receiving Housing Benefit your claim will continue and you will not fall under the new LHA Scheme.
You will not fall under this new scheme if:
- you rent from the Council (Eastbourne Homes)
- you rent from a Housing Association or registered social landlord
- you rent a mobile home, caravan or houseboat
- your tenancy started before 1989, is still in use and you have not had a break in your Housing Benefit claim
- your rent includes substanial 'Board and Attendence' and the rent officer decides that you cannot fall under the LHA Scheme. This means a large part of your rent is for food and services. For more information, please contact us.
