Food Safety Week 2009 Information Display
Food Safety Week Display

We held information displays in our Customer Contact Centre at 1 Grove Road and the Age Concern Eastbourne Centre in Junction Road for Food Safety Week in June 2009.

Over 60s Look Out for Listeria

The focus was food hygiene advice for the over 60s on the need for correct storage and handling of food at home, to avoid deadly listeria food poisoning.

Anyone over 60, who is ill or who has a long-term medical condition is at increased risk.

We gave away 100 free thermometers at the contact centre display to local residents aged over 60 to help them monitor their fridge temperatures.

The council's food safety team in Environmental Health are working with local voluntary groups such as Age Concern to raise the awareness of older people.

For more advice, go to the Look Out for Listeria page in our Food Safety at Home section, or download the leaflets below. You can also download PDF versions of the display panels and posters from our information displays.
