People in the UK eat on average 20 per cent more saturated fat than the recommended maximum. Reducing your intake of saturated fat reduces your risk of high blood cholesterol and coronary heart disease. 

Simple Ways to Cut Down

There are some simple ways you can help reduce your saturated fat intake, including:

  • simply choosing lower fat dairy products

  • simply grating cheese instead of slicing so you eat less or it

  • simply eating chicken without the skin

  • simply using leaner mince

  • simply trimming the fat off meat

  • simply comparing labels and choosing the option that is lower in sat fat

  • simply eating less pastry

  • simply using sunflower or olive oil instead of butter

  • simply eating healthier snacks when you are on the go

  • simply eating more balanced meals
