Licensing Team
The Licensing Team works with the business community, residents and key partners to ensure that Eastbourne's licensees are properly scrutinised and licensed premises are safe and well managed.
This partnership approach enables resources to be targeted effectively and fosters a joint approach to solving issues that arise.
About the Team
We are part of the council's Environmental Health service and we:
offer information, advice and guidance to all those affected by the various licensing regimes
respond to complaints, providing mechanisms to protect persons experiencing problems with licensed premises
carry out a robust enforcement strategy to ensure premises and operators conduct themselves appropriately
enforce and provide advice about the new smokefree public places and workplaces legislation, with business and public awareness campaigns
The team works with local businesses, Nightwatch and Eastbourne Crime Reduction Partnership. The partners aim to promote a vibrant night time economy, with well-run premises in a safe environment.
