Simple Advice - What You Need to Do

The council has produced a leaflet with clear and simple advice for local businesses and an awareness poster to display in your premises.

Poster for Businesses to Display

You can download our colour poster below, for you to display in your premises, advising workers to stay at home and the public not to come into your buildings if they have flu symptoms.

Business Advice Leaflet to Download

You can also download our leaflet below with simple advice for employers on what you need to do. It has nine simple steps you can take to reduce the spread of swine flu and protect your workers and business.

The more your employees know about how to prevent infection, the more resilient your business will be.

Pandemic Flu Guidance from the Government

The government recommends that all businesses:

  • follow NHS Pandemic Flu Guidance for Businesses - you can use our link to the Department of Health website to download this document, which has detailed guidance for employers in the workplace
  • keep informed and review your business readiness
  • email your employees the official NHS information leaflet on swine flu - in this section you can download and save the leaflet in PDF format, including alternative languages and formats

Assess Risks and Prepare for Emergencies

All businesses can benefit from considering what they would do in the event of a flu pandemic. Thinking through the risks and the changes you would make to your operations is relevant to swine flu but could also be adapted to a number of other business crises and emergencies.

You can find out more on the Business Link website, including:

  • guidance on operational implications of swine flu

  • the latest advice for international business travellers

  • advice on whether employees should wear masks

  • general guidance on business risks, crisis management and business continuity planning

You can also find general swine flu guidance for employers on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) website, a pandemic flu checklist for businesses on the Cabinet Office website and a business continuity advice booklet to download below.
