Alcohol - Know Your Units

Online Units Calculator Tool
Go to our online Units Calculator from the NHS to help you work out the units for each drink. The number of units can vary a lot, depending on the different strength and size of each drink.

Find out how many units are in your drinks, to help you stick to your limits.

Did You Know?

  • a pint of beer (ABV 4 per cent) contains two units of alcohol

  • a double gin and tonic contains two units of alcohol

  • a pint of cider (ABV 5.3 per cent) contains three units

  • a 250ml glass of wine (ABV 12 per cent) contains three units

Units - They All Add Up

Visit the NHS Know Your Units campaign website to help you understand how many units are in your favourite drinks and help you to keep an eye on your intake for the good of your long-term health.

Glass sizes have grown larger and the strength of many wines and beers has increased, so it is no wonder some of us have lost track of our alcohol consumption.
