Noise Annoys - Leaving Pubs and Clubs Quietly

Noise Annoys

If you are leaving a pub, bar, or club (or a party or friend’s house) late at night, please be considerate.

  • Please leave quickly and quietly

  • Get a taxi to get home safely

  • Say your goodbyes quietly

  • Avoid shouting, slamming doors or revving car engines

  • Do not sound car horns - to do so in a public place, other than in an emergency, is an offence

The council recommends that pubs and clubs in Eastbourne encourage you to leave quickly and quietly by posting notices by exit doors and in car parks, making announcements on PA systems and door supervisors helping to minimise disturbance.

Sshh - Silent Students, Happy Homes

Sshh - Silent Students, Happy Homes is a campaign organised by the student union at Brighton University and backed by Eastbourne Borough Council.

The union campaign gives students practical advice about how to be good neighbours and keep noise down when going home after an evening out.

The union has put up posters up in the halls of residence and handed out lollipops at the end of nights out to keep students mouths occupied on the way home.
