Eastbourne's Weather Stations

Weather Station sunshine recording instrument

The council runs two weather stations.

Our electronic weather station feeds real time weather data live to the council's websites - find out more in this section.

Our official Met Office standard weather station equipment is used by the Borough Meteorologist for compiling formal weather records.

This section has information about the weather instruments we use at our official climate network station.

Weather Records from our Climate Network Station

The station is used to monitor local weather on a daily basis and telephone reports each day to the Met Office, who release this information to the media.

The Borough Meteorologist displays daily weather records in our Enviro-Facts seafront kiosk on the Lower Promenade east of the Eastbourne Bandstand.

Information is also supplied to the Environment Agency and the Climatological Observers Link monthly and twice weekly to the local press.

Our Meteorologist publishes online charts in this section, with monthly summaries of our records from 2001 onwards.

You can also download Annual Meteorological Reports from 2002 onwards and Monthly Weather Reports from 2005 onwards from our station records. Archive annual reports from 1973 onwards can be viewed at our offices.

The Met Office website includes archive statistics from Eastbourne's official weather station - see our Archive Reports and Statistics page.
