Overall 2007 was relatively warm due to higher than average temperatures in January, February and in particular April.
Warmest and Driest April on Record
April was the warmest and driest on record in Eastbourne with a maximum temperature of 24.0ºC on 15th and only 1.6 mm of rain falling on 25th.
The highest temperature was 25.2ºC on 5th August and the lowest temperature was -1.5ºC on 26th January.
Record Annual Average Sea Temperature
The annual average sea temperature in Eastbourne was 13.1ºC which is the highest annual average since records began in 1867.
The highest sea temperature was 20.1ºC on 5th August. The highest previously recorded was 21.4ºC in 1995 and 2003.
The total rainfall was 704.1mm which continues the trend of below average rainfall for the past few years. The 136 year annual average rainfall is about 800mm. Rain fell on 136 days compared to a 136 year annual average of 159 days.
Above Average Sunshine
The total sunshine hours was 1,932.1 which is above Eastbourne's 136 year average of 1,826 hours. The highest previously recorded annual sunshine hours was 2,161.5 in 2003.
