Snow falling overnight on Wednesday 1 December 2010, continuing into Thursday, was the heaviest snowfall in Eastbourne for around 50 years.
There has been nothing comparable to this exceptional weather in Eastbourne since the early 1960's. The years 1963 and 1965 saw very heavy snowfall.
December Snowfall and Minimum Temperatures
Eastbourne's official weather station recorded 23 centimetres of snow and the minimum temperature on Thursday 2 December was -3.6C, and -3.7C on Friday 3 December.
