What can I put in my recycling box?
We collect the following items from your kerbside in green recycling boxes:
-
Glass bottles and jars (please rinse)
-
Tins and cans (including the large metal chocolate and biscuit tins. Also clean tin foil and empty aerosol cans)
-
Paper, newspapers, magazines and junk mail, catalogues and directories (including envelopes without windows and yellow pages)
-
Textiles and shoes (in a bag please)
-
Plastic Bottles (please rinse and squash)
-
Household Batteries (in bags please)
Please rinse dirty bottles and jars. To help the crew sort the recycling please try to keep the same items together in your recycling box.
When is my recycling collected?
The green box is collected on the same day as your refuse but only once a fortnight.
If do not know what day your recycling is collected, we can send you a 'recycling calendar' which gives all of your recycling dates - please contact us. Alternatively look at our 'When is My Bin Day?' page for more information.
Where should I put my recycling box on collection day?
Your green recycling box should be placed at the boundary of your property by 7am on the day of collection, next to your wheelie bin. Boxes not placed at the boundary of your property will not be collected.
If you experience problems placing your recycling box at the front of your property, please contact us on (01323) 415229.
I don't have a recycling box, what should I do?
All households in Eastbourne should have received a green box for the collection of recycling. If you do not have a recycling box, or it has been lost or damaged, please let us know so that we can replace it. Lids for recycling boxes are available on request.
What about other recyclable items?
Other recyclable items can be taken to our bring sites or to the Household Waste Recycling Site (the 'tip'). Items accepted vary from site to site - please see the information for individual sites to see what you can take there.
