The Sustainable Building Design Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides detailed guidance on the acceptable design of environmentally friendly developments. It reflects the Council's commitment to encourage greater use of renewable energy in developments in Eastbourne.
The SPD is intended to provide further guidance to policies within the Core Strategy. It will be used to guide development control decisions and is intended to support pre-application discussions with regard to development proposals.
Specifically, the SPD includes a new checklist for incorporating sustainability measures such as renewable energy, water efficiency and waste reduction, which will be required to accompany most planning applications.
To assist in the preparation of the SPD the Council commissioned consultants AECOM to undertake a Renewable Energy Potential Study for the Borough. This Study is available to download below.
