The SPD is intended to provide guidance on the provision and acceptable design of environmentally friendly developments. It reflects the Council's commitment to encourage greater use of renewable energy in developments in Eastbourne.
The SPD is intended to provide further guidance to policies within the Core Strategy. It will be used to guide development control decisions and is intended to support pre-application discussions with regard to development proposals.
To assist in the preparation of the SPD the Council has commissioned consultants AECOM to undertake a Renewable Energy Potential Study for the Borough.

An SEA Scoping Report for the SPD has been produced and has been sent to the statutory consultees for comments. The SPD is expected to be ready for public consultation towards the end of 2011.
