The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is one of the key documents included as part of the new Local Development Framework.
The aim of the SCI is to show how the council intends to engage the community on all major planning applications and in the preparation of the new Local Development Framework, an important planning document that replaces the current Borough Plan.
The SCI sets out the groups within the community with whom the Council intends to consult, where the information will be made available on various planning documents and how the community can get involved.
We submitted the draft SCI to the Planning Inspectorate in December 2005. We received the final Inspector's report on the SCI in February 2006 and made a number of changes based on his recommendations.
With these changes made, the SCI is judged sound by the Planning Inspectorate. The SCI was adopted by the Council in April 2006.
