Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

Plans, pen and protractor

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) is an important evidence document informing Eastbourne's supply of housing for the next 20 years. Eastbourne is expected to deliver 5,022 new homes over the 21 year period from 2006 to 2027. The SHLAA looks at opportunities across the Borough to deliver new housing in order to meet the local housing target.

In early 2008, the Council undertook a 'call for sites' where landowners and stakeholders, submitted sites with housing potential to the Council for consideration. The Council assesed these sites along with all other opportunities and produced a report outlining the methodology and assumptions used in the assessment.

The Council consulted with its statutory and key stakeholders on the methodology and assumptions used in the assessment from 29 October - 10 December 2008.

You can downlaod the full SHLAA in support of the Core Strategy below. Alongside this, a Windfall Housing Delivery briefing note stating the methodology for calculating future windfall development in the Borough is available to view.
