The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) is one of the key documents in the Local Development Framework (LDF). The SCI sets the standards and approach that Eastbourne Borough Council takes to involve stakeholders and the community in the production of the LDF, as well as the handling of major planning applications. It is intended to ‘signpost’ opportunities for anyone who wishes to make a contribution to planning for Eastbourne’s future.
The SCI was the first LDF document that the Council steered through the Examination process to adoption. The final version was adopted by Cabinet in April 2006 and published in May 2006.
New regulations and policy guidance was issued in 2008 which changed the way in which LDF’s should be prepared. As a result, an updated SCI was published for consultation between 27th February 2009 and 22 May 2009. The update made technical amendments in light of the new regulations.
Following consultation, the updated SCI was adopted by full Council on the 22nd July 2009.
