The Planning Policy team is carrying out a neighbourhood planning activity, focused around each neighbourhood in the town.
The project is called the ‘Eastbourne Sustainable Neighbourhood Assessment’. It involves an audit of each neighbourhood to analyse how it looks, feels and functions for the local community.
Consultation events were held during November - December 2009 to discuss the findings of the assessment in conjunction with consultation on the Core Strategy Spatial Development Options. The assessment has been revised taking into account feedback from this consultation.
The assessment looks at current local issues, identifying any future needs and improvements that could be made to the neighbourhood to make it is more sustainable in planning terms.
The assessment concentrates on:
-
housing
-
design
-
employment
-
crime
-
access to services
-
the environment
-
transportation
The Core Strategy contains a vision and policy for each neighbourhood and a strategy for achieving that vision which has been informed by the outcomes of the Sustainable Neighbourhood Assessment.
