Planning Policy is concerned with preparing and implementing plans that help us decide what can be built and where. Eastbourne Borough Council has a range of planning policies that are used to inform decisions to approve or reject planning applications.
Government legislation has made some major changes to the way councils prepare planning policies. Local development plans will be replaced by local development frameworks (LDF), which are a collection of local planning policy documents.
We will be consulting on various development plan documents which will form part of the LDF.
Latest: On 31 January 2012 the Council submitted the Eastbourne Plan: Core Strategy and the Town Centre Area Action Plan to the Secretary of State for independent examination.
The Examination in Public for the Core Strategy started at 10.00a.m. on Tuesday 15 May closed on Thursday 17 May 2012.
We are currently preparing:
-
the Eastbourne Plan - Core Strategy
-
Town Centre Area Action Plan
-
Eastbourne Park Supplementary Planning Document
- Sovereign Harbour Supplementary Planning Document
- Sustainable Building Design Supplementary Planning Document
We have compiled many evidence documents, which together inform a new strategy for the future development of Eastbourne.
You can find out about all of these documents under the Local Development Framework section of the website.
Until new LDF documents are adopted, the current Eastbourne Borough Plan (2001-2011) policies that were saved from 27 September 2007 continue to be in force. The Borough Plan policies are available to download in this section of the website.
