Before applying for planning permission, read the guidance on the Planning Portal website to ensure that permission is needed and that you have taken the right steps before applying.
There are three ways to apply for planning permission:
- the easiest way is to apply online via the Planning Portal
- download application forms to complete by hand from our Planning Application Directory
- collect an application form from our offices
If choosing option 2 or 3 above please note:
We only require the original completed and dated application form and supporting documents.
Please do not send the 3 additional copies referred to on the application form.
Further Information
You can find out more about which form to download on our Planning Application Directory.
Many applications now require a Design and Access Statement and Flood Risk Assessment. Waste Minimisation Statements and Waste Management Plans are now required for applications. Please see our pages on these documents for further guidance.
As of the 6th April 2008 we now require a set list of documents and plans for an application to be valid. Details of the National Validation Requirements and our Local Validation Requirements for each type of application can be found on our Planning application directory.
Since 1 August 2008, the Council charges a fee for any new requests seeking either the discharge of conditions on a planning permission or confirmation that conditions have been discharged. This is in accordance with The Town and Country Planning (Fees for Applications and Deemed Applications) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2008 which were introduced by the Government in April.
