Find where to get advice about pest control problems with birds, including pigeons and seagulls, which the council does not visit to deal with.
You can download our advice leaflets about pigeons and seagulls in PDF format below.
Birds and the Law
Wild birds are protected by law, so you must not harm or injure them.
In certain circumstances, DEFRA issues licences to permit otherwise prohibited action to be taken by authorised persons to resolve problems with wildlife including herring gulls and feral pigeons.
Problems with Birds
If you have pigeon problems, we recommend you contact a local private pest control company, who should be a member of the British Pest Control Association (BPCA). You can search for member companies using the link from this page.
If it is a council property, contact the Area Housing Officer at Eastbourne Homes Limited, telephone 01323 436436.
Feeding Birds
If a neighbour is regularly feeding pigeons or seagulls and making problems of nuisance from the birds worse, you can contact our Pollution Team, who may be able to write to them about the problem.
