Building Control

Building works in progress

The Building Control service deals primarily with applications and notices for building work made under the Building Regulations.

The Building Regulations are a set of national standards for the construction of all types of buildings.

Please refer to the Communities and Local Government survey regarding the use of Building Notices which can be accessed from the link on this page.

We also deal with reports of dangerous structures, access issues and means of escape in case of fire from certain buildings.

Building Control also works closely with the Access Officer regarding access for disabled people in Eastbourne. This is called Access For All.

To report a dangerous structure call (01323) 415217 during office hours or (01323) 410051 at any other time.

In this section you can find out about what sorts of works need to be approved by the council, and you can download guidance and application forms.
