Local Dog Control Orders - Dog Bans

Local Dog Control Orders Leaflet

Eastbourne has local Dog Control Orders to promote responsible dog ownership.

Any person who commits an offence is liable to prosecution or a fixed penalty fine of £75. There are exemptions for registered blind people with guide dogs.

Dog Bans - All Year Round

Dogs are banned for health and safety reasons from:

  • Devonshire Park

  • Childrens playgrounds in:

    • parks

    • recreation grounds

    • housing estates

  • Picnic area in Sovereign Park

Dog Bans - Summer Only

1st May to 30th September

Dogs are banned from the beach between the Pier and the Wish Tower from 1st May to 30th September.

The Dog Control Orders in Eastbourne came into effect from Monday 14 April 2008.

These Dog Control Orders only apply in Eastbourne. Contact your local district or city council if you are outside Eastbourne.
