Meet Polar at School Visits

[ Zoom ]
Hello, I am Polar, a German Shepherd dog rescued by the council's Dog Welfare Officer
Hello, I am Polar

You could meet Polar the German Shepherd dog at your school.

Learn about Dog Welfare

Sue Criddle, the council's Dog Welfare Officer goes to local junior schools in Eastbourne to talk about:

  • how to behave around dogs while you are out

  • what to do if a dog comes over to where you are playing

Polar is a German Shepherd dog that Sue rescued in 2007 and is now the star of our talks and school visits. You can meet her and get a "I have Met Polar" bookmark with her photo.

During April and May 2009 Sue and Polar visited Pashley Down Infant School, The Haven Primary School, Ocklynge Junior School, Motcombe Community School, St Johns CE School, St Bedes School and Oakwood School.

Design a Poster Competition

Children from five local infant and junior schools entered our design a poster competition to help tackle dog fouling in Eastbourne, sending in pictures of dogs following school visits with Polar.

In our picture gallery in this section you can view slideshows of all the pictures. In the Winner and Runners-Up Album you can see the prize winning entries. The winning drawing has been made into a poster which will be displayed around the town.

You can also view videos of all the drawings from each school.
