2011 Eastbourne Dog Show Sponsors and Fundraising

Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare
The 2011 Eastbourne Dog Show supported the Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare. Find out about the Trust on their website...

The 2011 Eastbourne Dog Show was organised by the council's Dog Welfare Officer working in partnership with local sponsors.

Responsible Dog Ownership

The event aimed to encourage all dog owners to be responsible, have fun with their dogs and educate owners to clean up after their pets.

Raising Funds for Local Charities

The show raised money for two local animal welfare charities:

  • The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare

  • The Basil Fund

Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare

The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare set up its own Animal Rescue Centre at Hadlow Down near Uckfield in 1986. In addition to animal rescue and re-homing work, the Trust has become increasingly involved in wildlife rehabilitation, and operates a 24 hour wildlife emergency help line.

Over the years, the Kit Wilson Rescue Centre has also become a permanent home to many animals which it is not possible or desirable to re-home, including horses, donkeys, cats, goats, birds and small mammals.

Viewing of animals is by appointment only, at The Kit Wilson Trust for Animal Welfare, Stonehurst Lane, Hadlow Down, Nr Uckfield, East Sussex TN22 4ED. For general and animal enquiries telephone 01825 830444 from 9am - 5pm daily. The 24 hour Wildlife Emergency number is 01825 830735.

The Basil Fund

The Basil Fund is a small local charity dedicated to helping financially with medical treatment for stray and abandoned dogs in Eastbourne, working with the council's Dog Welfare Officer.

Last year the 2010 Eastbourne Dog Show raised £400 for the Basil Fund, as well as £400 for the PDSA.

A range of animal welfare and other local charities also had exhibition stands at the 2011 show:
